About

Hey there!

I’m Megan Work, but you can call me Megs!

Here’s a little about me: I am a UX Designer, Researcher, and freelance illustrator based in Santa Barbara, California. I graduated from Westmont College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Studio Art Minor in May 2018. I completed my User Experience Design Course through Career Foundry in August 2020, and I am eager to combine my knowledge of psychology and creative expression in this exciting field!

During my time at Westmont, I curated a solo exhibition called “HOME” in February 2018 which explored the mixed thoughts and emotions following moving from my childhood home in the summer of 2017.

Post graduation, I have explored the different media that interest me, from traditional ink pieces during the Inktober Challenge to digital illustrations. You can see the personal projects I’m working on via my Instagram! I love dogs, pink and purple sunsets, and the sound of crashing waves on sandy beaches.

Here’s what my coworkers say about me!

“Megs has excelled over the last year in several aspects. Her adaptability has been a standout quality, as she seamlessly embraced increased responsibilities after our recent team restructuring. She's been an exceptional partner to stakeholders with her collaboration during the 2024 planning process, making planning conversations smooth and ensuring our projects align perfectly with our goals. What's more, Megs has impressively showcased her collaborative skills by working closely with the Design System team, achieving consensus on crucial UI patterns, and even contributing to the enhancement of the system's notification banners' responsive behavior. These strengths highlight her invaluable contributions to our team and organization.”

- Amber Wilks, Product Design Manager while at Procore

“Working with Megs is an absolute pleasure. She really cares about her teammates and her users and works hard to ensure that everyone has all the information needed to help drive products forward. Megs has been instrumental in helping to evangelize UX throughout the organization and is always willing to help others to understand UX processes and activities. Her natural ability to build rapport with people makes user interviews and other generative research look easy. Her self-motivation, initiative, and willingness to learn all make her a wonderful addition to any team and a great asset to any organization.”

- Kat Rigdon, UX Manager while at Zigzy

“Megs is a creative, thoughtful, and insightful problem solver. She goes through as many hoops and holes to understand her users as a powerful advocate for their voices. When she does share her users' voices and concerns with teams, she expertly conveys the users' stories and answers any questions that come her way with her ever-growing knowledge base. Megs also has been a great ally and teammate to work with; I count myself blessed to have worked with her.”

- Joshua Han, UX Designer I while at Zigzy

"Megs is a great addition to a team. She has a positive attitude and will go out of her way to help you. She is genuinely interested in user research and willing to learn. If there is something that she doesn't know, she will look it up and get back to you as soon as she can. Her personality and ability to receive feedback will help any company she is part of."

- Saneeya Khan, Sr. Ux/Ui Designer while at Zigzy

“Working with Megan Kent is a pleasure. While humble and genuinely kind hearted, she also shows a passion towards any project she puts her mind to. I would recommend adding her personality to any team setting in need of a bright, motivated, adaptable employee. She has also proven herself to be a empathetic and effective leader in our organization; showing that positive reinforcement will always be the clear victor.”

- Liberty Cohen, Sr. Technology Trainer at Zigzy

“The best colleagues are caring, thoughtful, self-driven, and able to contribute within their teams and across team lines as well. Megs embodies each of these qualities and more and is the type of person I would recommend for any team I was forming. In addition, she is a creative and skilled designer and researcher that has a shown a consistent desire to learn and grow. These attributes would make her an asset to any team or organization, and I am happy to have worked with her early in her career so I can sagely claim "I always knew" when she reaches ever greater heights of success.”

- Jason Ross, Sr. Director of Product Technology at Zigzy

“I had the privilege of working with Megs on a new product initiative. As a UX Designer I, Megs demonstrated a knowledge in UX practices that was well beyond her years. Megs approached challenges thoughtfully, and always strove to be innovative in her problem solving. She consistently presented insightful research findings that helped shape the product strategy. As a team member, Megs was attentive, encouraging, and someone who could always be relied upon. She will be an asset to any team she joins.”

- Samuel Jackson, Principle Product Manager while at Zigzy

“I have worked alongside Megs for about a year now. In this particular year, I’ve seen her not only excel at the core elements of her job (usability testing, ux research) but also learn other tasks that extend well beyond the scope of her role like working with Figma, design sprints, and even working alongside our company’s internal development team. Megs has grown tremendously as our business has, and her willingness to learn and take on these new responsibilities is something to be desired in any professional. Megs’ mastery for both her core role, and the tasks that extend beyond it, have been critical to the company. In fact, her taking initiative communicating with the internal Condo Analyst team has greatly improved our workflow and products. This mix of productivity and ambition sets a great example for the rest of the team, and shows why everyone loves working with Megs. I have only optimistic predictions for her career trajectory.”

- Tomas Ramirez, Ux/Ui Designer II while at Zigzy

“Megs has been a joy to work with and i've been impressed by her work ethic since week 1. I was not surprised when she quickly shed her intern role to become a full time staff member. She was quick to jump into team meetings, join and even create office clubs, and engage with engineers to participate in design workshops.”

- Nella Juma, Agile Scrum Master II at Zigzy
